Kepler's April 30, 2026 release describes a K2 welding exercise with Luxiao Technology at a reported height of 20 metres. A ground operator wore a VR headset and controlled the robot through an immersive whole-body teleoperation system.

The supplier claims eight hours of continuous work and precise trajectory following, but provides no independently checked work log, weld-quality assessment or safety case. The exact site and operating date are undisclosed. General procurement plans discussed in the release are not evidence that this unit was purchased or accepted by a grid operator.

The trial matters as a possible way to move a person away from a hazardous position while retaining human judgment. Its value therefore depends on remote-control latency, recovery arrangements and demonstrable weld quality, not an assertion of autonomy. This record is a qualified pilot and does not turn the vendor's first-of-kind or safety language into a verified certification claim.
