Industrial Applications
PX5 was XPENG’s first publicly named biped platform at the October 24, 2023 Tech Day. Official release gives 3 kg single-arm maximum and 1 m/s end-effector speed. It predates the 2024 IRON redesign and later skin-covered revisions; no current retail offer, formal discontinuation or SDK/support entitlement verified.
This editorial assessment concerns industrial buyer readiness. It is not an independent performance test.

Manipulation and Perception
Official maximum 3 kg per arm and 1 m/s END-EFFECTOR speed. Contemporaneous launch report: 7-DOF/5 kg arm, 0.05 mm repeatability; 11-DOF/430 g hand and 1 kg two-finger holding claim. Component values and holding force are not additional arm payload. Whole-body DOF and exact load-at-reach envelope unverified.
Endpoint tactile sensing and stable straight-leg walking demonstrated/claimed. Automotive-shared XNGP/XGPT/XOS were future integration intentions in 2023; not a delivered sensor/compute BOM.
SDK and Integration
No current public PX5 API, ROS, languages, simulator or maintained source licence verified. Later IRON SDK announcement not inherited.
| API type | No exact PX5 public SDK/API verified |
|---|---|
| Languages | Needs verification |
| ROS support | No exact model ROS distribution or maintained integration verified |
| Simulation | No public exact robot URDF/MJCF/USD/controller package or simulator entitlement inspected |
| Offline operation | On-device inference claimed; all-feature offline operation and remote-service dependencies unverified |
| Teleoperation | Latest maker claims tasks without remote operation; not evidence every public demo or recovery is autonomous |
| Software updates | Robot-specific update approval, signing, rollback and support lifetime unknown |
| Documentation | Open documentation |
| Integration constraints | Partnership/open-SDK announcements are not a current downloadable developer licence. Vehicle SDKs and unrelated community car repositories must not be treated as IRON control software. |
Safety Notes
No inspected exact-model signed conformity declaration, independent safety dossier, protective-stop design or certified collaborative operating envelope. Soft skin, solid-state marketing and robotics laws are not conformity evidence.
Commercial Readiness
