Asahi Kasei and GMO AIR tested a Unitree G1 at the chemical company's Moriyama Manufacturing Site in February 2026. GMO AIR's July 1 case study names the Production Technology Development Center and shows the robot handling a basket used to transport experimental film plates.

The test asked a narrow operational question: could a general-purpose humanoid grasp the existing basket with both hands and carry it between tables? The integrator reports that this movement was demonstrated. The basket belongs to a workflow involving chemical-liquid tanks, but the case does not establish that the robot autonomously immersed it in chemicals or replaced a production operator.

Bringing the hardware to the customer's site tests reach, grip and movement against an existing object rather than a redesigned robot fixture. Engineers tuned the system locally. The public account supplies no repeat-count denominator, cycle time or unattended operating record, so the result is a completed feasibility trial. Safe chemical handling and production reliability require further validation.
