UBTECH's July 13, 2026 announcement distinguishes a strategic agreement from work already under way. It says Hitachi introduced Walker S2 into manufacturing environments and identifies on-site testing on the Hitachi Elevator manufacturing floor, with secondary development by the Hitachi China Research Institute.

A supplier photograph is explicitly captioned as Walker S2 operational testing in a Hitachi Elevator workshop. The public material does not name the factory branch, a final production station or the robot fleet. Broader ambitions cover elevators, building systems, healthcare and semiconductor equipment; those sectors are not all verified deployments.

The case matters because integration and secondary development occur in a customer's workshop. It is classified as a pilot because task acceptance and sustained production results are absent. A follow-up should establish the exact task, intervention frequency, safety arrangements and whether work has progressed from validation to routine production. No marker is placed at a presumed Hitachi headquarters or elevator factory.
