A January 3, 2026 Shenzhen Special Zone Daily report, republished by the municipal development commission, identifies Astribot S1 in a Shenzhen nursing-home training exercise. An older resident demonstrated clothes folding, after which the robot practiced the task. The report describes this as exploratory training and real-setting data collection.

The October follow-up names Shenzhen Elderly Care Nursing Home (深圳市养老护理院) and reports an agreement on June 6, 2025, followed by S1 activities there on August 21. Cooking, tea preparation and sorting are discussed as further training areas, while fall detection and health management are exploratory functions. None establishes an autonomous care service or a clinically validated safety outcome.

The case matters as a route for learning from real users and the objects they handle. It remains a pilot: no staffing reduction, resident outcome, intervention rate or permanent installation is evidenced. A later October 17 interview in China Business Journal still describes testing and notes that the company declined detailed operational answers. The city marker indicates Shenzhen only; the marker does not claim a verified facility entrance.
